Changes in Skin, Hair and Teeth

We don’t need any scientific studies to know that we experience changes in our skin, hair and teeth.

Our skin loses its elasticity and becomes dry and wrinkly. Various types of spots form.

It’s ironic, but as we age we start to lose hair where we once had it - on our heads - and grow it where we had none or at least less before - on our face, in our nose and ears and on our breasts. The texture of our hair changes, becoming more frail and thin, and our hair begins to lose its natural color and turn gray.

Exercise

Our tooth enamel becomes thin and turns yellow, and gum disease is more prevalent. Chewing and swallowing will become more difficult.

Changes in Memory

Many studies indicate that as we age we notice a reduction in memory, even among those not suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. People often comment that they require more time to process and recall information. “Where are the keys … the scissors …? Where is the cheque book?”

Changes in Sleep Patterns & Energy Levels

Many people say as they age that they have difficulty getting to sleep and frequently wake in the night. Many women suffer from disruptions to their sleep due to night sweats and hot flashes as they endure menopause.

Can you believe we’re finally done? That was depressing, wasn’t it? This section was intended to cause you to consider the consequences of living a sedentary lifestyle. If there isn’t enough evidence here to persuade you to start or maintain a fitness program, I don’t know what will.
